Hyland Hills Hockey Association

The Hyland Hills Hockey Association Board of Directors is extremely excited to introduce Mr. Shawn Kurulak as our new Hockey Director.

A native of Calgary Alberta, Shawn was a four-year letter winner on the blueline for the DU Pioneers, where he wore the alternate captain's "A" for three seasons.  A three-time WCHA All-Academic selection, Shawn helped the Pioneers win the league championship as a senior. In 131 career games at DU, he had 41 points (7 goals, 34 assists) and 268 penalty minutes.

After his college career, Shawn spent many years coaching at the collegiate level.  Prior to this season, Shawn spent the last three years coaching at RPI.  Before RPI, Shawn was an assistant coach at West Point where he was responsible for recruiting and player development. 

Before his time with the Black Knights of Army, Shawn was an assistant coach at Bemidji State for a couple of years and he also was the Head Coach of the Fargo-Moorhead Junior A team that finished 2nd in the North American Hockey League for the 2003-04 season.

Most recently, Shawn has been the head coach of the Colorado Thunderbirds Midget Major AAA team which is leading the standings for Tier I U18AAA in Colorado.

It is with great pleasure that Hyland Hills welcomes Shawn Kurulak as our new Hockey Director.  We look forward to a very long and productive partnership.
