HHHA Goalie Page

Welcome to the HHHA Goalie Page.  You will find news and notes regarding the Goalie Program here on this page.

Rob Dorr

Rob grew up in the Chicago area, playing as a goalie for many years. Rob attended and played for Lake Forest Academy MPHL, DII) for 3 years. He then was recruited to Kimball Union Academy (D1 Prep), where he played for 2 years. Rob went on to attend Merrimack College, where after one year he transferred to the University of Southern Maine (DIII). While at the University of Southern Maine, Rob played hockey but shifted his time to playing lacrosse for the Huskies, where he was a captain for 2 years. Rob's coaching experience began working under Tom "Chico" Adrahtas, head coach of Robert Morris (DI), coaching kids under the age of 13. He then coached high school/college bound goalies in New Jersey under John Larnerd (Fusion Goalie Development). Rob aspires to work with kids both athletically and mentally. He also does player development for the Selects Hockey Player Development camps.

To goalies:

I look forward to working with the goalies at Hyland Hills. The aim is to provide multiple learning opportunities through on ice training, off ice work, and by watching themselves and others on video. I focus a lot on positioning, fundamentals, and movement, along with teaching the mental aspect of the game. I ask that goalies be ready to work hard and learn with an open mind. I am excited to meet and work with all the goalies this year.

Individual Meetings

I would like to get a chance to meet with a lot of the goaltenders. I want to hear what you would like to work on, and also talk about your progress. I will be out of town from Dec. 17th through Jan 1st. If I could get a chance to meet with goalies before this time it would be great. Either send me an e-mail with a time that works best, or keep posted for a sign up sheet for times that I'll be available at the rink. Parents are welcome to attend and voice their ideas, concerns, etc

Goaltending Clinics

There is also a goalie clinic for Bantams and PeeWees on December 15th. It is on the Red Rink from 7:15-8:30. Shooters at the Bantam and PeeWee level are welcome to come. DNHL and CCYHL goalies are all welcome to attend. Thank you.

NOTICE:
There was a Bantam/Midget Goalie clinic that was posted for Thursday the 15th as well. This is not the case.  Sorry for the error and any confusion that it may have caused.

GOALIE OF THE WEEK

This past weekend saw multiple goaltenders playing at a high level. Andrew Miller saw 36 shots and stopped 33 of them in a tough loss to Littleton PWA team. Jake Kendall-Perry from Squirt A saw not only 19 shots and stopped 18, but saw tough scrums in front of him and kept a high level of composure, not letting the hits after the whistle prevent him from helping his team to a key 4-1 win over second place Littleton. Hunter Wade from Squirt B also had a busy weekend, playing two Littleton Squirt B teams. Hunter made multiple jaw-dropping saves and allowed his team to walk away with one win and a 0-0 tie. At the squirt C level, Ben Marquis and Nick Junkin played at their highest level to date. They were able to walk away a win and a close loss to two Littleton teams also.
Also, good luck to the Bantam A team as they leave this weekend to represent CO in the SilverStick Finals Tournament in Port Huron, MI. Good luck and play hard!

A special thanks also goes out to Josh Beatty of the Midget Minor AA team. Josh has been seen daily around the rink and has been a great help to me and supporting teams to ensure that their goalies get time with a goalie coach at least once a week. Josh continues to echo the teachings that I've been using, and has created great rapport with the goalies he has been working with. If you see Josh, please thank him for all of his hard work!
