SMALL GAMES CAMP

Hockey Director Shawn Kurulak highly endorses Small Games for Squirt through Midget. This camp focuses on developing the player’s rink and hockey sense. Small games really allow the players to work on specific areas of their game while having fun doing it.  Small Area Games takes us back to the days of pond hockey and having fun. The cost is only $160.  For registration information, dates and times see HERE.

Hockey Camp Bucket List

Mark your calendars and prepare to check these camps off your Hockey Camp Bucket List.  Yes, that's right, the 2012 versions of Coach Doug Smail's Camp of No Forgiveness and Coach Dave Lisnik's The Next Level Hockey Camp are scheduled and you can find information on the Camps and Clinics page.

Spring/Summer Camp Updates

3 on 3 - Small Games
Depending on age group it begins on June 4th and ends in mid-July
This camp focuses on developing the player's rink and hockey sense while having a great time doing it.  This is highly recommended and would be a great opportunity to keep players on the ice for the summer.  The cost is an extremely reasonable $160!  Details here.

Pre-Season Conditioning Camp
In late July through August
This is highly recommended and a great opportunity to tune the player up to get ready for tryouts and the season.

CCYHL Coaches Named

Hockey Director Shawn Kurulak is dedicated to providing our players with the best coaching possible.  To that end he has named the beginning of what promises to be an outstanding roster of coaches.  They are Mike Driscoll - Bantam AA; Dave Lisnik - PeeWee AA; Mike Lewis - PeeWee B; and the Director himself, Shawn Kurulak - Squirt A.  Keep your eyes peeled for further coaching announcements.  The full list is here.

CCYHL Squirt Ice Analysis

Hyland Hills prides itself in the claim that we can provide more ice for our teams than any other local association.  A study was made at the Squirt level on ice usage over the 2011-12 CCYHL year between Hyland Hills and two local associations.

The results of the study can be found HERE

HHHA Alumnus Kyle Brodie - Bemidji State Defenseman

Each year Hyland Hills is fortunate enough to have hundreds of outstanding young men and women playing hockey at our association.  They go on and continue to make us proud, both in and outside of hockey.  We would like to take this opportunity to recognize one such Jaguar alumnus, Kyle Brodie.  Currently Kyle is playing, and excelling, at Division 1 Bemidji State University.  More importantly, Kyle is succeeding in the classroom and as a great role model for all of our younger Jaguars who would love to follow in his footsteps.  Please read more of his story here.

Cody Smail Memorial Stickers and Scholarship Fund

It was with the deepest sorrow that the Hyland Hills Jr. Hockey Association announced the sudden passing of former Jaguar & Outlaw player, Cody Smail on November 11, 2011. The entire hockey community was saddened by this news.

Cody's ALL IN work ethic, energetic style of play, and constant smile will be missed by all of us. As a memorial tribute, Hyland Hills Hockey players will wear Cody’s number 6 on their helmets for the remainder of the 2011-12 season. We ask that the players place the sticker on the back left corner of the helmet.

The Board of Directors has also founded the Cody Smail Memorial Scholarship. This fund will award a scholarship to a Hyland Hills Jaguar hockey player who exemplifies characteristics similar to how Cody played this great sport.  ALL IN with love of the game, courage and determination. It is the intent of Hyland Hills Hockey Association for the award recipient to use the scholarship money to help offset their season hockey fees.
